The following statement can be attributed to Gigi Sohn, Spokesperson for the Affordable Broadband Campaign:

Today marks a critical deadline to enroll in a program benefiting 23 million households nationwide. It is a sad day when an incredibly popular program that enjoys tremendous bipartisan support in Congress is closed down.

The ACP is the largest internet affordability program in our nation's history, but without immediate Congressional action we are on the brink of seeing approximately 50 million Americans lose a vital subsidy that keeps them online. Tomorrow, the door will slam shut for millions of eligible households.  The surge of messages to congressional offices is a testament to the public's demand for action, and I applaud the wave of new cosponsors on the Affordable Connectivity Program Extension Act of 2024. It's time for Congress to listen to its constituents and act!
